SWEET TEA Comes To Los Angeles! A Play About Black Gay Men In Town This Weekend Only

I guess it's the time of year when artistic depictions of Black gay men are available in Los Angeles! Last week, Patrik-Ian Polk's Blackbird was released to multiple movie theaters and this weekend there's a play about Black gay men in the South called Sweet Tea showing at the Stella Adler theater in Hollywood.
Based on his award-winning book, E. Patrick Johnson stars in this new one-man exploration into the southern, black gay community. A fascinating, validating oral history inspired by the author's personal journey, SWEET TEA explores these men's perceptions, joys, experiences, angst, triumphs and vulnerabilities. With passion and insight, Johnson reinforces the spoken-word tradition while challenging stereotypes -- and finding humor, humanity and hope within.
Unfortunately I am out of town for a business trip this weekend but I encourage everyone go to see Sweet Tea!
