The Senate just confirmed John Roberts to become the youngest Chief Justice of the United States in the last 200 years. The vote was 78-22 with no Republicans voting against, and a slim majority of Democrats (23 of 25) voting in favor also. I presume both Senators from California were in the minority opposition. The Supreme Court's new term starts on Monday.
Attention now moves to Bush's pick to replace O'Connor. The names of "crazy persons" like Priscilla Owens and Janice Rogers Brown are apparently on the short list. It could get very very interesting...
