REVIEW: ThaItalian Restaurant (Pasadena, California)

Last Thursday night the other half and I checked out the Italian-Thai fusion restaurant ThaItalian (49 East Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena, CA 91105, 626-585-8808) in Old Town, Pasadena. Here are some pictures:

Bread and papadoms with a very tasty dipping sauce was brought to the table within minutes of sitting down.ThaItalian cups (petite pastry cups filled with shrimp, ground chicken, corn, onion and diced tomatoes, served with honey cucumber sauce and crushed peanuts, $8.95)
Red curry tenderloin (grilled beef tenderloin with red curry sauce served with Thai jasmine rice, $12.95)Green curry linguini (linguini sauteed with snow peas, broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers and Thai basil in light green curry sauce, $7.95)

As evinced above, the restaurant was relatively empty on a Thursday evening in the middle of a Southern Californian "winter." It is also a clean, sleek environment. The food was very, very tasty and relatively cheap. I drank the peach lemonade which was a nice counterpoint to the flavorful food. I ordered the ThaItalian cups, which were delightfully crunchy and savoury at the same time. The green curry linguini was caliente but not too picante. The other half had a wonderfully creamy butternut squash soup, followed by the red curry tenderloin beef. The food was quite filling so we didn't have dessert.

All-in-all it was a lovely dining experience.
