30th Anniversary of Star Wars

Where were you when you first saw Star Wars? May 25, 1977 was the release date of George Lucas' classic science fiction film. Today is the 30th anniversary. I'm pretty sure I saw it that summer 2 or 3 times. I was already a huge sci-fi fan, having read J.R.R. Tolkien's Lord of the Rings and Isaac Asimov's Foundation series. I think my favourite character was R2-D2.
The first film, officially titled "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" has spawned 5 more films which have grossed well over $2 billion at the box office. It was nominated for 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Director and won 6.
