Sacramento mayoral candidate and former NBA player Kevin Johnson announced his opposition to Proposition 8, the ballot measure that would eliminate the right to marry for gay and lesbian couples.Johnson is running for mayor of Sacramento against incumbent Heather Fargo. In June, Johnson placed first in a non-partisan primary election and is in a run-off on November 4, 2008.
