World #2 Roger Federer defeated Argentinian David Nalbandian 6-3 6-4 to win his 3rd consecutive title in Basel, Switzerland, the 13-time Grand Slam champion's home town. Federer improved to 10 wins, 8 losses against his arch nemesis from juniors and won his 57th ATO Tour title overall.
After the match, Federer did not say whether he would be playing the Paris Masters, which starts on Monday and his agent announced that Federer would not be playing any exhibitions in 2009 as he concentrates on reaching (and breaking) Pete Sampras' all-time record of 14 Grand Slam singles titles.
