Venus and Serena To Play Final Final of the Year

Venus Williams defeated Jelena Jankovic 5-7, 6-3, 6-4 and Serena Williams won when Carolina Wozniacki retired down a set but up a break at 4-6, 1-0. The two will not be playing in the doubles final, having lost 2-6 6-4 (10-8) in a doubles tiebreak. It was only their second loss in doubles of the year. They have a career record of 130 wins and 18 losses.

Venus and Serena have played each other 22 times, with Serena leading 12-10. The two have played relatively frequently in 2009, with Venus winning once (Dubai) and Serena three times (Miami, Wimbledon and Doha). I predict Serena will win tomorrow, and become the first female player to earn over $6 million dollars in prize money, when she receive the $1.55 million dollar check for winning the year-end Sony Ericsson Championships, which Venus won last year!
