Serena Obliterates Charleston Field, Wins 40th Title

Serena Williams dropped an astonishingly minuscule 8 games in her last four matches played at the Charleston tournament, winning her 2nd Family Circle Cup title by overwhelming Lucie Safarova 6-0 6-1 in the final one day after she demolished 2011 US Open champion Samantha Stosur 6-1 6-1 in the semifinal.

It was Serena's 40th career WTA Tour title, placing her 14th on the all-time list. She had previously won the Charleston title in 2008.
