Serena Williams won her 43rd career WTA title by defeating
Coco VandeWeghe 7-5 6-3 in the first all-American final on U.S. soil since 2004 at the Bank of the West classic on the campus of Stanford University.
One week after winning her 5th Wimbledon title to tie her sister Venus's total, Serena now has won the same number of WTA tour titles overall.
Serena won this tournament last year and by defending her title will make it easier for her to advance in the rankings.
