Olympiad XXX: Openly gay British rider wins gold

Carl Hester, an openly gay member of the British Olympics team won a team Gold medal as part of the Dressage Grand Prix Special. Hester, 45, is the only openly gay member of "Team G" at the London Olympics, Olympiad XXX.

Recall that at the start of the Olympics I blogged that there were only 14 openly gay Olympians out of the 12,000-plus registered athletes? Well, according to Pink News, that number is now up to 23 openly lesbian or gay Olympic competitors, still a puny 0.16% of the total.
