8 Weeks Until Election: Obama 256, Romney 206

For the first time since I have been posting these electoral college scoreboard updates every Tuesday since August 14, 2012, Mitt Romney has broken the 200 electoral vote barrier, and only trails Barack Obama 206 votes to 256 votes, with 76 electoral votes up for grabs. There are now exactly 8 weeks (56 days!) until election day: November 6, 2012.

Obama's projected electoral vote count is down 18 points (Ohio) from last week's total of 274 while Romney's total  is up 15 (North Carolina) from 191. This is because North Carolina (15) has been shifted from undecided to leans Republican and Ohio (18) got shifted from leans Democrat to undecided.

The undecided "swing" states totaling 76 votes for this week are: Iowa (4), Wisconsin (10), Florida (29), Virginia (13) and Ohio (18).
