Serena Wins 1st Title of 2013 in Brisbane; Her 47th

Serena Williams started off 2013 the way she ended 2012, winning titles. In Brisbane, Australia Serena beat Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in 51 minutes, 6-2 6-1, to win the Brisbane International final. Things were pretty even in the match until 2-3 in the first set when Serena broke open the match and won 7 games in a row, putting the result beyond doubt.

Serena's win was her 8th consecutive win in a final (since her still-puzzling loss to Samantha Stosur in the 2011 U.S. Open final) and the 47th WTA tour title of her career. She now has more titles than her sister Venus, and is #10 on the all-time titles list.
