Katherine Johnson, the NASA “computer” whose life
story was the primary motivation behind the hit book Hidden Figures by Margot Lee Shetterly turned 99
years old yesterday! She was played by Taraji P. Henson in the movie adaptation (see my review) that was nominated for multiple academy awards earlier this year. Last year
NASA renamed a building after her on the occasion of her 98th birthday and before that, President Obama awarded her the National Medal of Freedom.
