A new poll of Delaware shows that support for marriage equality has surged from a basic tie (48%-47% in February 2011) to majority support (54% to 37%) with opposition to the idea crumbling. The margin of error in the latest poll is ±4 percentage points.

This latest polling data should be helpful as legislative efforts proceed in the state to enact marriage equality in the next few months. Delaware Governor Jack Markell (D) who previously signed the state's civil unions bill into law now thinks that marriage equality is "inevitable."
