National Freedom To Marry Day is Thursday
Thursday is February 12th, which has been celebrated as National Freedom To Marry Day since 1999. This year it is also the 200th anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln and Charles Darwin and the 5th anniversary of San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom's decision to start allowing same-sex couples to get marriage licences in 2004 which led to 2008's California Supreme Court case In Re Marriage Cases legalizing same-sex marriages in California (as well as Proposition 8 banning them).
