Is True Blood Season 5 Gonna Get Better?

I've been actually had a somewhat ambivalent reaction to the first half of Season 5. It's been good, but I fear it has not been up to the show's usual intense (and high quality) standards. That could be because there's been reduced amount of gay content compared to previous seasons, I'm not sure.The only new male eye candy is Chris Meloni, and he has been overdressed most of the time. There is no one who is as pretty as Season 3's Mehcad Brooks playing Eggs Benedict or Season 4's Kevin Alejandro as Lafayett'es boyfriend Jesus Velazquez. Seeing more of Joe Manganiello in Season 5 is a good thing, it must be noted.

If you haven't seen this season yet, the biggest and most interesting developments have involved Tara, who is unfortunately played by one of the least convincing actresses on the show. The other main development has been the forced alignment of Bill and Eric to work together under pain of "the true death."However, the second half of the season seems to be pretty exciting.Creator and Executive Producer of the first 5 seasons Alan Ball is ending his day-to-day connection with the show after this season concludes.

Apparently at the recently concluded Comic-Con in San Diego a trailer for Season 5's second half was released. You can see it at the top of this post.

WATCH: Calvin Klein X Ad (Do You Wanna See My ****?)

Finally the full version of the ad for Calvin Klein's new X underwear featuring celebrities  Mehcad Brooks, Kellan Lutz, Hidetoshi Nakata and Fernando Verdasco that I have been talking about for the last several weeks has been released. In it, all four hotties say some version of "Do you wanna see my (bleep)?" I think the answer is "Yes, please!" (Especially Mehcad and Fernando.)

Celebrity Friday: Fernando Verdasco

Spanish tennis player (currently ranked at #13 in the world) Fernando Verdasco is one of the hotties who are serving as the bulge face of the new Calvin Klein underwear called X.

MadProfessah fave (True Blood Season 1 and 2 star) Mehcad Brooks is another person in the campaign, as are Japanese soccer star Hidetoshi Nakata and Twilight star Kellan Lutz. You can see Kellan and Mehcad at Rod 2.0's site here and Hidetoshi here.

Celebrity Friday: Mehcad Brooks (reprise)

Mehcad Brooks recently told an interviewer that he supports marriage equality. The True Blood star said that he will not be getting married in California until everyone has that right.

“I’m also not even concerned with marrying somebody until it’s legal for everybody to get married. And what I mean by that is the whole Prop 8 thing,” Brooks told honeymag.com. “I find it really offensive. I just find it really problematic when you start throwing people’s rights away. Until we get our gay brothers and sisters back into a realm of consciousness that everyone else is in, it’s just not right. A woman who’s getting married — it’s probably going to be a gay man who made her dress, and a gay man who’s doing her hair and makeup, but he can’t get married. How messed up is that?”

Not just a pretty face and a set of killer abs but an insightful guy as well!

Celebrity Friday: Mehcad Brooks

Steaming hot Mehcad Brooks has done the impossible, growing even hotter in his appearances on HBO's True Blood. MadProfessah has been ogling Mr. Brooks since 2005, when he appeared on Desperate Housewives.

Brooks is one of the best things to look at on the intriguing HBO show which is already chockful of hot man flesh. His character's name on True Blood is Eggs Benedict Talley.He has clearly been spending time in the gym and now features what looks like an "eight pack."

What I like most about him is his smile. Really!

Eye Candy: Mehcad Brooks

Various screen shots of the gorgeous Mehcad Brooks above were posted to the Square Hippies blog. Mehcad, previously a regular guest star on Desperate Housewives a few seasons ago as Alfre Woodard's character's son, made an appearance in the season finale of HBO's True Blood (which was created by Six Feet Under creator Alan Ball.)

I have only caught a few episodes of True Blood so far (the final two). It is clearly not as good as Ball's seminal Six Feet Under, but if they do make Mehcad a regular in the secdon season I might consider watyching it regularly!
