Olympiad XXX: Jamaica Wins 4x100 Relay (36.48s)!

The Jamaican 4x100 relay team of Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake, Michael Frater and Nesta Carter won the Gold medal in the event with a stunning time of 36.84 seconds, a new world record, averaging 9.21 seconds per leg, which is far faster than either Bolt or Blake ran the 100m in their medal-winning performances earlier in the week!

The Jamaican team beat the Americans' time of 37.04 (equalling an American record) and even though the Canadian team crossed the finish line third, their team was disqualified because Jared Connaughton stepped on the lane boundary, which was only discovered during the official video playback review after the team was celebrating their Bronze medal finish! So Trinidad and Tobago was awarded the Bronze medal, completing an outstanding track and field event for Caribbean-based teams.

Olympiad XXX: Bolt Wins 200m Gold, Cements Iconic Status

Usain Bolt became the first man ever to win the 100m and 200m races in two consecutive Olympics, proving his iconic status as the greatest sprinter of all. His time of 19.32 beat out his countryman Yohan Blake's 19.44, who beat another Jamaican Warren Weir's time of 19.84. Thus Jamaica swept the 200m and only an American bronze medal performance by Justin Gatlin in the 100m prevented a double sweep of the most prestigious (and lucrative) races in athletics.

Former Olympic medal silver medalist for Trinidad and Tobago Ato Boldon was quoted by the New York Times as saying that Bolt's win "end[s] the debate about who is the  greatest sprinter in history."

Bolt has now won gold medals in the 100m (9.69s) and 200m(19.30s) at the Beijing Olympics and at the London Olympics. Might he continue his reign in Brazil at the Rio Olympics in 2016? He will only be 29 years old them. He currently holds the Olympic (9.69s) and world record (9.58s) in the 100m as well as the Olympic (19.30s) and world record ((19.19s) in the 200m. The 200m is widely considered his stronger event for the 6'5" phenom.

Olympiad XXX: Bolt Wins 100m Gold in 9.63s!

Usain Bolt of Jamaica repeated his Gold Medal finish in the 100 meter dash at the Beijing Olympics by doing so again at the XXX Olympiad in London, with a winning time of 9.63 seconds, slower than his world record of 9.58 seconds, but  faster than his winning time of 9.69 seconds from four years ago.

Second was Yohan Blake (also of Jamaica) in  a personal best time of 9.75 second, while American Justin Gatlin edged countryman (and former World Record holder) Tyson Gay 1/100th of a second to win the Bronze medal with a time of 9.79s.
