Queer Quote: Dan Savage Excoriates Tony Perkins

Today's Queer Quote comes from Dan Savage, who has been known to say some controversial (and frankly, stupid) things in the past and almost surely will say more in the future. Dan went after the odious Tony Perkins and the hate-filled Family Research Council, two big players in the kulturkampf over LGBT equality, over the issue of gay youth during an appearance at Winona State University recently. He basically accused Perkins and FRC of actively celebrating the death of gay youth via suicide.

 Here's the quote:
Tony Perkins tells the parents of queer kids to do what Tony Perkins damn well knows drives those kids to suicide — doubles their already quadruple rate of suicide. Why would someone who calls themselves a Christian do that? Because every dead gay kid is a victory for the Family Research Council. They argue that the gay lifestyle is sick and sinful and dangerous and they point to the suicide rate, and then they turn around and do everything in their power to make sure that suicide rate does not come down and to drive it up. Tony Perkins sits on a pile of dead gay kids every day when he goes to work — and he calls himself a Christian.
What do you think? Too much, or accurate?

Queer Quote: Brian Brown

Brian Brown of the National Organization for Marriage and It Gets Better project founder Dan Savage sat down for dinner at Savage's home last week to debate marriage equality in the presence of a New York Times reporter. The entire debate was uploaded to YouTube.

During the debate the heterosexual supremacist Brown made the following self-unaware comment when responding to Savage's question about why NOM doesn't go after divorce as much as they do same-sex marriage:
"Just because you believe something is wrong, it doesn't mean that you make it illegal"
Exactly, Brian, exactly! So, why would you want to make same-sex marriage illegal even though you believe it is wrong? Get it? You yourself just made a statement which supports repealing Proposition 8!

Google Change Spreads Santorum Across The Web

Google apparently made some changes to its search algorithm which dropped the Dan Savage website spreadingsantorum.com from the first page of search results but instead raised the Urban Dictionary's definition of "santorum" which is even more explicit:
The sometimes frothy, usually slimy, amalgam of lubricant, stray fecal matter, and ejaculate that leaks out of the receiving partner's anus after a session of anal intercourse. Named, by popular demand and usage, after legislator Rick Santorum because of his homophobic political statements.
Not exactly the first thing one wants people to see when they google your name. Forget about Santorum, I'm more interested in the definition of "romney" (to defecate in terror).

To Romney Means "To Defecate In Terror"

The word "romney" is getting the same Google bomb treatment by the group DogsAgainstRomney.com that LGBT activist Dan Savage was so effective at deploying to (re)define the word "santorum."
