Paris Masters: Soderling Easily Beats Monfils For 1st AMS Shield

Robin Soderling beat Gael Monfils in 77-minutes 6-1 7-6(1) to win the Paris Masters tournament, his first title at this elite level. For the second year in a row, the talented, athletic, 6'4" Frenchman lost in the finals before a large crowd in the Bercy section of Paris to a higher ranked opponent.

Then again, it can not be all disappointment for Monfils, who saved an amazing five match points to defeat World #2 Roger Federer for the first time in 6 attempts the day before 7-6(7), 6-7(1), 7-6(4), in one of the most exciting matches of the year.
