2013 US OPEN: Nadal Beats Djokovic For 13th Major Title
Defying my predictions but not entirely unexpectedly, Rafael Nadal confirmed his dominance over men's tennis by vanquishing World #1 Novak Djokovic 6-2 3-6 6-4 6-1.
Nadal extended his winning streak to 22 consecutive hard court wins and has only lost three matches all year and won 60. The 2013 US Open title is his 13th major title (and 60th of his career), just four major titles behind his arch-rival Roger Federer and his astonishing 10th ATP World Tour title for the year. He improves to 22-15 career head-to-head over Djokovic and now leads their final match-ups 9-8 and ties their major final meetings at 3-all. Having earlier won the 2013 French Open title Nadal is assured to end the year at #1.
