

Although Democrats control both house of the state legislature, there are a number of conservative Democrats that oppose marriage equality and do not support the legislation.

Its Daniel O'Donnell, not David. He carried the marriage legislation in the Assembly where it passed in 2007. The New York State Assembly was one of the first legislative bodies to pass marriage legislation without a court order to do so.
