Exxon Mobil released its corporate earnings for 2006 yesterday: $39.5 billion profit. This is the largest announced annual profit by a corporation ever, and beats the record that Exxon Mobil set the year before: $36 billion. While making this astounding amount of money in recent years, Exxon Mobil which was formed through the merger of Exxon and Mobil in December 1999, has continually refused to enact a corporate non-discrimination policy inclusive of sexual orientation or gender identity.
In fact, Exxon Mobil rescinded Mobil's inclusive non-discrimination policy and barred any new domestic partners from receiving corporate health benefits after the 1999 merger. It is the only company in the Fortune 50 not to have an inclusive discrimination policy.
There is a corporate association called Equality at Exxon actively promoting a change in policy and Exxon Mobil's obstinance to change has not gone by without notice.
