The United State Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in the Proposition 8 case (i.e.
Hollingsworth v. Perry) in exactly 7 days, March 25th. That is the 10th anniversary of oral arguments in another famous case,
Lawrence v Texas, which resulted in the nation's remaining sodomy laws being ruled unconstitutional. The United States Solicitor General
has been granted leave to participate in the oral arguments, even though the U.S. is not a party to the lawsuit.
The next day the court will hear oral arguments in
United States v. Windsor, which will decide the constitutionality of the so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
I've been calling these two days
