an ATP Masters 1000 event in Key Biscayne which was won last year by Andy Murray over David Ferrer on his way to the World #2 ranking. Murray lost to Novak Djokovic in their quarterfinal after he lost his cool and the first set when Djokovic was allowed to win a point despite breaking the rule of hitting a ball on the wrong side of the net. Murray ended up losing 7-5 6-3.
The Federer-Nishikori was a more exciting affair, with Federer up a set and a break multiple times in the second set but could not consolidate the break and eventually lost 3-6 7-5 6-4 to the Japanese 24-year-old. Nishikori had survived 4 match points against World #4 Ferrer in the round before and the Federer win was his second consecutive Top 5 win. He now has a 2-1 head-to-head lead against the 17-time major champion and will face Djokovic who he has a 1-1 split against.
In today's quarterfinals, Rafael Nadal will face Milos Raonic and Tomas Berdych will face Aleksandr Dolgopolov.
