SD-26: Ridley-Thomas Endorses Curren Price As Successor

Los Angeles County Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas strongly endorsed Assemblymember Curren Price to fill the 26th District State Senate seat vacated by Ridley-Thomas on December 1 on his elevation to his County Supervisorial position. There will be a special election in the district on March 24, 2009 to fill the seat, with the winner being up for election in November 2010 for a four year term.

MadProfessah is a big supporter of Mark Ridley-Thomas and had previously blogged about the potential match-up between two current Assemblymembers: LGBT-supportive Curren Price and Mike "I'm not (voting in favor of anything) gay" Davis and given the edge to Price.

As others have pointed out, having Ridley-Thomas' endorsement makes Price "the man to beat" in the race for the 26th district state senate seat, although I do expect some Latino politician(s) to also contest the election.

Ridley-Thomas was one of only three politicians to whom I donated money this past year---the other two being Obama (of course) and Donna Edwards in her primary campaign for Maryland's fourth district seat in the House of Representatives.
It would have been a very good year for my political investments, but unfortunately Prop 8 passed.
So three huzzahs and one goddamn.
