The
New York Times is
running a Reuters report on
Nigah Queerfest '07 , a cultural festival highlighting homosexuality being held in New Delhi, India from May 25th to June 3rd.
After spending two weeks in India earlier this year I am very interested in public policy involving the world's largest democracy, especially with regards to homosexuality (and other issues like health care, population control, poverty
et cetera). India still has a colonial-era law called
Section 377 which criminalizes homosexuality with up to 10 years in prison. There
have been numerous protests over Section 377 and there is a pending court case attempting to repeal the provision.
