Her sister Venus Williams, who has not played since Wimbledon due to a knee injury is still entered. Defending champion US Open Kim Clijsters has played one tournament (and won it) and is yet to lose on the US Open Series.

US OPEN 2010: Serena Williams Withdraws
Serena Williams announced that she will not be playing at the 2010 US Open, due to an injured right foot.
